FAQ & Policies
First Lesson
Please bring your towel, goggles and a favorite bath or swim toy. We highly recommend Finis Fruit Basket goggles. If a child is under 3 years old, we ask that they wear an approved swim diaper. Regular diapers are not hygienically safe. No floaters, please! Gear recommendations below.
When will my child learn to swim?
Every child learns at their own pace based on their previous swim history, comfortability with separation, ability to listen, apply instructions quickly and practice. We see significant progress in 5-10 lessons. Weekly, recurring lessons, one to two times a week, are imperative. Commitment and repetition are key for successful swimming!
How can I help my child learn to swim?
Coach used to say, Every day out of the water is equivalent to two days. We are land creatures and for many children, swimming is a new environment. Often, swim lessons are a child’s first introduction to structured learning with a teacher, fundamental for their growth and development. Teaching to the student’s pace is imperative. Patience and trust from parents creates an optimal learning environment. Slow is the fastest way to become an independent swimmer. The bath is an easy way to acclimate to the pool. Practice having your child get their eyes, ears, nose and mouth wet, blowing bubbles while humming and wearing googles. Commitment and consistency is key. Swimming with your child at least once or twice a week outside of lessons will significantly expedite the learning process. Monkey see, monkey do! Children match their parent’s energy and language around water. While safety is the primary focus, let’s please remember to use positive and encouraging words poolside. Survival swimming is rooted in fear based thinking. Our goal is to not only have your child be a safe swimmer but to also love the water for life.

To ensure the safety and success of our swimmers, only the child/children scheduled for that time slot are permitted in the pool with the instructor. All other swimmers must sit on the pool deck, out of the water, accompanied by an adult.
